• Speegleville Park at Lake Waco — One of my go-to spots for Baylor game weekends. It’s a short shot west of the stadium via Loop 340, and the sites along the lake give you a legitimate basecamp feel. Book early — sites here fill for marquee home games.
• Lake Waco – Airport Park — Another solid option on the lake. More open layout, easier for me to maneuver a larger trailer into position. Good choice if you’re bringing a bigger group.
• I-35 RV Park (Bellmead) — When everything lake-side is full, this is a reliable fallback. Full hookups, right off the interstate, straightforward in and out. Not scenic, but it’s functional and close.
• Riverview RV Park — A workable option depending on availability, especially for groups coming up US-84 from the east side of McLennan County.
• Mother Neff State Park — If your group wants to extend the trip and make a full weekend of it, Mother Neff is about 25 miles west on TX-6 near McGregor. Beautiful park, but plan the drive to the stadium into your schedule.

McLane Stadium’s tailgate lots open several hours before kickoff, and the scene along the Brazos River Walk is genuinely worth arriving early for. The stadium is accessible off University Parks Drive, and the traffic pattern coming off I-35 (exit 335B) can stack up quickly once you’re within a few hours of kickoff. If your rig is already parked at a campground and you’re ridesharing or driving a personal vehicle to the lot, you avoid the worst of it.

A few practical notes from doing this run repeatedly:

• Weather in September and October in Waco runs warm — we’re talking 85–95°F during afternoon kickoffs in early fall. Make sure your RV’s AC is running before the group gets back from the game. I always walk clients through climate setup at delivery for exactly this reason.
• November nights can drop fast — Central Texas doesn’t do gradual transitions. A 70°F afternoon can turn into a 45°F night by the time you’re back from a late game. The heat works just as well, and I’ll show you how to run it.
• Waco traffic post-game clears reasonably fast compared to larger markets, but University Parks Drive will be slow for 30–45 minutes after the final whistle. Being at your campsite rather than in a hotel parking garage is a genuine quality-of-life upgrade.

A ranked opponent or rivalry game will have campgrounds and hotels in McLennan County spoken for weeks out. My rule of thumb: once the home schedule is announced and you know which games you’re attending, reach out. For the biggest home matchups I’m sometimes booked out three to four weeks in advance for game weekends.

Mid-week bookings for a weekend delivery are possible for less-demand games, but don’t count on it for the marquee matchups. Early is always better.

Groups Coming from Austin, Dallas, or Beyond

Waco sits right on I-35 between Austin and Dallas, which means a lot of Baylor game-weekend groups are driving in from outside McLennan County. From Austin-Bergstrom, you’re looking at roughly 100 miles north — about 90 minutes in normal traffic, longer on game day. From DFW it’s about 100 miles south on I-35 as well. Flying into Waco Regional Airport (ACT) is an option for out-of-state fans, and it’s genuinely convenient — small airport, easy rental car situation.
